la trattoria

L’Ochina Bianca started in 1992 as a Slow Food restaurant, and since 2001 it’s managed by Roberto and Patrizia Tonelli.
The three rooms have all got a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the style of a Parisian bistro with antique plates on the walls, furniture from the 30’s and the 50’s, candles and soft lightning.
Four expert chefs have added to the typical recipes of the Mantuan cuisine (pumpkin-stuffed ravioli, pasta stuffed with beef meat, risotto with pork sausage pesto) many fish recipes, including raw fish dishes and the “Mixed fried seafood and vegetables”, considered “the best in Italy” by many.
Also the dessert menu, since the very beginning selected by Patrizia, is by now recognized as a typical and irreplaceable element.
The crumbly almond cake, a typical Mantuan dessert made according to the original recipe, is available also as a delightful gift.
With it’s central location, just a few minutes from Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza Sordello, L’Ochina Bianca is a must-visit destination for anyone who wants to try out the typical Mantuan cuisine as well as modern fish dishes.
